ust like the black bean is synonymous with Mexican cuisine, the chickpea is present in many Israeli dishes (especially my favorite appetizer – hummus). Many Middle Eastern dishes are cooked to perfection at this tiny East Village joint, including the most amazing chicken (and turkey for the health conscious) shawarma that’s certified kosher served in a sandwich or a platter. Kufta kebabs (beef or spiced lamb) and Chicken kebabs contrast the beautiful bed of orange lentils upon which they are served. The hummus here is off the wall and conveniently served in a variety of dishes depending if you want it with plain homemade pita or with some falafel balls. The menu is limited to these dishes, which ensures they are prepared to the highest quality and with the freshest ingredients. An excellent choice for Passover or any day of the year.
