Appropriately located within central Tribeca, this five star Mexican joint takes a modern approach to traditional cuisine by employing contemporary techniques and American ingredients with classic recipes. With celeb chef and Food Network star Aarón Sanchez in the kitchen, you can guaranteed these dishes aren’t the typical black bean burrito or tex-mex tacos often associated with “authentic” Mexican fare.
Sanchez travels through Mexico’s states via regional dishes starting with picadas (corn tarts with salsa) from Michoacán, torta de mariscos (seafood frittata) from Veracruz, cochinita pibil (slow roasted suckling pig) from the Yucatán, and birria (braised short ribs in ancho chile broth) from Jalisco. The atmosphere is equally vibrant and reflects a Mexian affinity for color and the nightlife (when the sun sets of course) and a tranquil, mellow atmosphere during the day (equal to an afternoon siesta). The hospitality and friendly service reflect a warmth that is not only true of Mexico’s climate but of their people.
