ho knew that café dining could be this elegant? Crystal Chandeliers showcased by bright white tiles exudes a clean classy atmosphere in which patrons are invited to dine until dusk (the resto closes at 8pm). As with many NYC cafés, you can get the traditional salad and soups, but the menu really shines when it comes to warm, comfort food creations.
Known for their passion for pasta, Italians shine in manipulating the delicate dough for a variety of dishes. Falai creates excellent vortelli treats stuffed with a potato mixture and smothered in Bolognese sauce. The Veal Scallipini is equally tender but the adventurous palates will enjoy the baby octopus with potato and black olives.
As a result of Executive Chef Iacopo Falai’s background in pastry arts, the dessert menu is equally impressive (if not more so) with such notable mentions as the berry panna cotta and cannoli creation filled with rum-infused cream and a tender crust. Be prepared to loosen the belt a few notches for some real SoHo value.
