hen I think Ali Baba, I think of the forty thieves and all that Open Sesame –bullshit. Fortunately, this Ali Baba has neither, and instead offers a menu of scrumptious beyti kebabs complete with the flatbread, yogurt, tomato, and garlic accouterements. This Manhatten eatery carefully balances the fine line of fast food and sit down dining to create a resto that pleases those looking for a quick bite and those who want to linger with a date. Lamb is in pretty much every dish, except for the salad (though I’m sure you could make a special request for a delicious lamb salad). Charbroiled chops come succulent and juicy when they arrive on your plate whereas the ground lamb pides (pizza-style dish) make for a fast snack. For those less lamb inclined, you’ll be happy to discover their vegetarian and seafood offerings that are also on the menu. Don’t forget to order a side of pita and bhaba ghanoush!
