  goofy comedy about a family who are so caught up in the hope and spirit of the summer of love (1967) that they dangerously optimistic. A mother and father open a highway diner with plans of making it big while their friend decides to move to the big city to become an actress. Guess what? 60s idealism didn’t work out. Things aren’t going to end well here. But at least as an audience member you get to laugh at the characters’ misfortunes. That should make you feel better about yourself.-P.B.
