  t's strange that Cake has had more than one hit. They have all the characteristic of a one-hit wonder band: lyrics bordering on novelty, obviously catchy melodies, cover songs. But despite all that, I can name at least three notable Cake songs: "The Distance," "I Will Survive," "Short Skirt/Long Jacket." It's almost as if they've been a one-hit wonder three times. - R.T.
