Js are the musicians of a new age. They spin delicate threads of sound to create exciting and new ear candy for the eager masses. Artist Charles Stankievech is attempting the role of philosophical DJ in his current exhibition at the Fonderie Darling. Stankie’s sound obsession lies in the end of sound. He loves to let the record spin around and around on the dust covered outer rim. He gets down to the static and clipped silence of that outer ledge. I guess he’s the postmodern DJ spinning variations of silence. The silence is being captured by a sea of microphones hanging from the ceiling and pumped out of subwoofers embedded in the floor. Sounds like one hell of a party. –J.T.
