xpert shoppers rejoice because Toronto retail is infiltrating Montreal. With the air/bus/train ticket prices on the rise almost daily any excuse to skip a trip to Toronto (or anywhere else for that matter) is welcome. High-end fashionista, Arie Assaraf, has opened up a TNT location on St. Catherine Street across from Westmount Square. Is your heart beating a bit faster? It will after you read Arie’s impressive line-up. When the new store is all stocked up there will be over 170 brands including M Missoni, Isabel Marant, Hanii Y and Viktor & Rolf. Shoes by newcomer Marsèll give neighbours Chloé and Marc Jacobs a run for their money. Leather goods are scheduled to arrive from Bottega Veneta in time for fall, but summer shifts by Julie Brown are a perfect buy right now for the fast-approaching summer.
Although the vast selection and divinity of craftsmanship in the store are explosive, TNT stands for something more fashion oriented than gun powder. TNT is The New Trend, i.e. what Arie knows you want and need in your closet. The stylish shop owner has been in the clothes business for over twenty years. He currently has eight TNT shops in the downtown Toronto area that upperclass Yorkville ladies flock to with a passion only seen in new lovers. With outfits on hand for women, men and children alike, TNT leaves little to be wanted.
The Montreal incarnation is two floors. The first floor is currently a splash of vibrant hues that reflect this season’s colour trend to a tee. The kids’ and men’s showroom in the basement is easier on the eyes with white and cream hues predominating. There is a fancy VIP change room and a tailor on hand to alter anything off. Hell, there’s even a Java U! If you can’t fall in love with anything in TNT while you’re all jacked up on caffeine, flouncing around the VIP change room with your own personal tailor at your beck and call the I’m afraid you need a personal shopper. Luckily, TNT acts as one anyway. The gist of it is, if you shop at TNT everyone will be wondering what your new secret is because, damn, you look fabulous. –J.T.
