Sweaty Betty’s
Cheap drinks are the name of the game at Sweaty Betty's, where patrons get their sun on at the upstairs deck with good ol' Molson Dry and Labatt 50: signature drinks invented especially for places like this. The atmosphere here is hipster snarl, with DIY design that's perfect for putting several back. An inclusive, first-apartment vibe pervades, though earnestness is nowhere to be found. - B.J. $. 13 Ossington Street, 416-535-6861.
Ultra Supper Club
On any given night, tables give way to dancing at this hyperactive Queen Street staple. A meeting place for the fashion-forward and music mavens of various adult ages, the aura at Ultra’s rooftop patio is as alive as the dining room below. When it gets crowded - and, seriously it does –audio-efficient BMWs and Porsches are often used for making one's presence known to the door. $$$$. - D.E. 314 Queen Street West, 416-263-0330.
Wetbar
If high-energy ambiance and hot, young blood is your mandate for a fun night out, Wetbar is worth considering for some very cool relief. Located appropriately high over clubland, this roof deck offers a blast of club life and an underwhelming view of the city. So what’s so cool about a rooftop pool bar in the middle of downtown? Hmmm…let’s think about that for a second.- A.J. $$$. 102 Peter Street, 416-599-2224
Wish
Entering Wish for the first time–like any hipster bar-engenders a certain sort of fretful uncertainty. The white-washed patio stands out amongst the drabness of Yonge & Charles and is probably as close to the hipster material as is possible outside of outright animation. It’s particularly well-designed, a feast for the eyes, and will provide a serious geek-on for drinking fans of all types. With its hard edges, sharp corners and SoBe design, this patio’s energy is certainly engrossing. – B.J. $$$. 3 Charles Street East, 416-935-0240.
