There is something quite satisfying about electronic music. You'll hear the sniffs from critics, claiming it is not "real" music, but said critics are just that - critical. Everyone is a critic, and it may be time to just take in the thunder, and stop being so feisty. Canada's electronic duo,
Thunderheist have made quite the breakout in the synth- urban pop world. Having the ever-catchy track, "Jerk It" featured in
The Wrestler was a good start, and playing the annual
SXSW festival was another point on the board. The duo (Isis and Zilla) use bubbles of electronica with dreamy funk beats, making music sexy again.
Perez Hilton gave his stamp of approval (for whatever that's worth) and even
Jimmy Kimmel welcomed the snazzy Isis on stage. Not that any of the above define good music, but it is nice to hear hype about solid acts, instead of focusing on acts who pride themselves on their ability to drink 4 twixers, ramble about drugs, and compose music that just sounds like an overdose. The sinfully sensual duo are performing as part of the Jazz Festival. Make sure to check out
Thunderheist, tonight (Saturday July 4) at Club Soda.
