For some people in Montreal, today (July 1) is Canada Day. For others, it's moving day. With as little controversy as possible (please don't hate us, Francophones), we're going to go ahead and offer you a few fun things to do today on this second holiday Wednesday in a row. Yes, some people may consider last week's Fête Nationale du Quebec the true nationalist holiday, but as long as Montreal is in Canada, there's going to be a Canada Day, and as long as there's a Canada day, there's going to be Célafête at the Old Port . This year, the organizers up the ante with a military display, a parade, a wakeboarding competition, an aerial show by the SkyHawks Parachute Team, a dance party, and the inevitable fireworks. That should keep you busy all day, but in case you're looking for something with a few less political ramifications, there's always the Montreal International Jazz Festival, where you can see ubiquitous funk-soul legends Kool and the Gang and the greatest jazz cover band ever, The Bad Plus .
