Spin Gallery Closes…Sort Of

ave you ever played Dizzy Bat? Essentially, you fix your head to a standing baseball bat, run around it several times, then stand up straight and try to beat the other Dizzy Bat-ers to a predetermined destination. It's like starting a late-night race between alcoholic hobos. Dizzy Bat, like everything, good or bad, is transient; you can't spin forever. Similarly, SPIN Gallery - the Queen West space above the Social and Vintage 69- has run its course. Well, sort of.
Though the gallery space has been taken over by Social owner, Richard Lambert, things shouldn't change significantly. Lambert tells Martiniboys.com that the he intends to "keep it as it was."
In short, the Social is definitively not moving upstairs. The room will remain a malleable, independent spot for varying events, especially exhibitions. As for new names, what about Dizzy Bat? Hmmm? Maybe not. -S.T. | If you enjoyed this article, you should also check out | | Art Basel Miami: Switzerland, Celebrities, and Art [Full Story] | | Holiday Movie Preview 2007 [Full Story] | | 1 Bloor Street East [Full Story] | | Movie Review: Lions for Lambs [Full Story] | | Toronto Life Square [Full Story] | | Art Basel 2007 Takes Over Miami Beach [Full Story] |
