Not sure where to go this Halloween? Not to fear; we've cooked up a list of all the hot spots in town. Whether you just want to chill and relax a little or go crazy and party all night, Montreal has something for everything. This is the only time of the year you can dress up like a giant wombat, or a disgustingly mutated zombie, or Axl Rose and it's perfectly acceptable. And this year Halloween takes place on a Friday so you can just go crazy. So here ya go and have fun.

The Magic of Lanterns, September 5 – October 31
This is the 16th edition of the Magic of Lanterns event. There are more than 1,000 Chinese lanterns and this year's theme is A Thousand and One Stars. There are Chinese instruments being featured and I think there are giant statues and figures as well. I'm saying this is a Halloween event because there are lanterns. Are lanterns Halloweeny? I'm not really sure but lanterns seem sort of Halloweenish to me. Yes, I know these are Chinese lanterns and not jack-o-lanterns but still. A.C.

Saw IV, Opens October 24
You've probably seen the commercials, they’ve been showing for quite awhile now, and the fifth installment of the Saw series is finally out. It was released just in time for Halloween. This Saw is different than the previous Saws because it has a new director David Hackl, and Donnie Wahlberg has left the cast to reunite with The New Kids on the Block. Mark Hoffman is Jigsaw's apprentice in this film and Agent Strahm starts catching on to what Hoffman is up to. In the meantime five people become trapped inside a sewer and must retrieve a key to release themselves. If they fail, they are to be beheaded. These five people do not know each other-but Jigsaw's apprentices always have some tricks up their sleeve. Do you really think they are random and unrelated? Of course not. All but one makes it out only to face another horrible and terrifying test. Hoffman realizing that Strahm is on to him sets him up to learn a couple lessons of his own. This is the fifth film in the Saw series and supposedly the last but the tagline is "You'll never guess how it ends." A.C.

Time Olympics Halloween, October 27
The best costume is a yearly Halloween competition, but this time you have to take it up a notch to Olympian standards. Watch out for the vampires, as they’d rather be biting necks than gold medals. –E.J. he best costume is a yearly Halloween competition, but this time you have to take it up a notch to Olympian standards. Sisters of Mercy, October 29
Dress up in your fishnets and corsets and get ready to join Susan Sarandon and Meatloaf this Halloween weekend. The legendary, kooky and ever-popular Rocky Horror Picture Show is screening for three days at the Rialto Theatre. But at this event, you can pretty much do whatever you want. Throw shit. Jump around and yell. Dress like a slut. It's all OK. And there are live actors animating the show. There is also a costume contest and it's hosted by Plastik Patrik. A.C.

Artist of the Year, October 31
If you're not in the mood to go clubbing, maybe a concert is up your alley instead. If you want to see a fun, cheesy and absolutely ridiculous band then you will want to check out Artist of the Year. Montreal is actually their home turf so I'm sure they will give their all for their hometown crowd. A.C.

Club Seven Halloween Party, October 31
Club Seven is hosting a Halloween party where there are cash prizes to be won! I am not sure what you have to do to win them or how much it costs to get in so I don't know how good a thing that actually is but hey, winning cash can never really be a bad thing. There are also prizes for the best costume so get out to Value Village and start working on it. A.C.
