The Distillerie
A kid in a Tim Horton's once offered me a mason jar of clear booze for 5 bucks. It didn't sound like a horrible idea, but there's something inherently wrong in children selling unmarked alcohol. I took a pass. On the other hand, I have no problem with bar-sanctioned mason jars. Hip little bars are a dime a dozen, but this scientology-free, flare, bottle-flipping joint stands alone. Thankfully, without entrepreneurial adolescents, this dark, inviting spot is filled with a mix of not-too-precocious students and locals. Enjoy mason bar booze with a traceable origin. 300 Ontario Street East, Montreal, QC

Tribe Hyperclub
Tribe Hyperclub draws the cream of the DJ crop from around the world. If it's drop, stick, and perspire that you're after, hit Tribe. Big and dance-trancey, this house pumping joint offers the requisite flash-light and hot-cold girl quotient. Certain nights tend more toward hip hop, but there's always some sort of vinyl heating up on the decks.

Bring your condescension and don't mention your past, proletariat life. 901 Victoria Square, Montreal, QC
