    1 Bloor Street East
Lining up in the cold for days on end is no longer just for sci-fi geeks, arena rock fans, and soup kitchens. Now, Toronto's wealthy have joined the atrophying, lawn-chair throng - well, sort of. Next week, 1 Bloor Street condo units go on sale. If you haven't heard of the soon-to-be-built tower, then you've probably wondered why umbrellas and leg-blankets abound outside of 33 Bloor Street East (aka the development's sales office).

Slated for completion in 2011, the building will stand 80 stories tall. Both a hotel and luxury condo, units start at a paltry $300K though, if you feel like splurging, you can drop as much as $18 million. As for the line, it's definitely not filled with plebs. Like scalper stoolies, many sitters have been hired as stand-ins by sly real estate agents and aspiring lodgers. Rain-drenched and windswept, the patient/opportunistic horde is no doubt being well compensated for their time. As they sit around getting paid for nothing, hobos across the city shake their heads in disgust (so do blurbists).

Speaking of opportunism, grilled cheese vendors and hot dog cart proprietors should set up shop near the queue. In fact, can anyone lend me a Forman grill? -S.T.
