Vauvert also introduced their light and delicious Fricots menu from 5:00pm to 11:00pm daily except for Thursday through Saturday where the kitchen remains open until 1:00am. This dynamic menu is for the post-9-to-5 young professional crowd that enjoys an after-work Mojito or Vauvert—vodka, cherry brandy, pomegranate juice and soda for $9. Try the $3 oyster garnish of your choice and the $9 shrimp tempura served with orange caramel, plus pan-fried fennel and capers.

For starters on the supper menu served daily from 6:00pm to 11:00pm, try the modernized mozzarella/tomato that is braised herbed tomatoes, roasted peppers and pesto crumble for $8. And for the main dishes, the contagious grilled Black Angus filet mignon including potato fricassee with aged cheddar, caramelized onions, parsley, bacon, baby spinach and Vauvert pepper sauce for $34.

The dinner menu does range from $19-$42 in price and features exquisite takes on risotto, salmon, roasted guinea fowl, linguini and ostrich—yes, you read right—served on a apple/celeriac/lemon hazelnut crumble and a red wine glaze with fried parsnip and baby Swiss chard for $28. Clearly the menu is far away from anything you can expect in the city. Selling your soul in exchange for dinner may never have looked so appealing.

Aside from the superior $8 martini menu, the brew crew includes imports such as Kronenbourg 1664 and the Japanese Sapporo for $6, as well as locals like Maudite for $5.50, which fits the theme magically as the label’s logo takes after Vauvert’s legendary story La Chasse-galerie.

I have to say this place is delicious...I had the salmon as an appetizer, the lamb with some small vegetables (it was very tender and came right off the rack) and a sort of yogurt parfait (not sure what the name was exactly) for dessert but it had vanilla yogurt and then berries, strawberries and chocolate chunks/chips. The service was very good, the ambiance and atmosphere was very upscale and we had our dinner on the 2nd floor! Definitely a must but it is pretty expensive.

I took the "critics choice" and went with the modernized mozzarella/tomato, it was perfect comfort food to accompagny the cold november weather. Loved the miniature croc pot that it was served in. For the main I went out on limb and tried the Ostrich. I was pleasently surprised, it was tender and delicious. The parsnip/apple crumble was a sweet and savoury inspiration. And together they were a match made in heaven. Or should I say hell... The desserts were also great, I suggest the trio of house ice cream sandwichs for a nice lite ending to a satisfying and delicious meal. The service was also great, and the waitress uniform was a very fitting and striking red. The only change that I would make to the wonderfully warm and errie decor was the table that i was sitting at. The wood one's were great looking but my black marble table just didnt seem to do the trick. I'd consider selling my soul to the devil for another great meal at Vau Vert, overall great experience, will definatly be back.
