A restaurant with a unique whimsical vibe settles nicely with the quirky Montreal dining crowd, peppered by students and locals of a bilingual bent. Those that refrain from the ordinary and pursue their own purist dining philosophy (i.e. vegetarians) have embarked up on Spirite's meat-free dinners. Open-minded individuals looking for some inspiration will find plenty and then some.

2 Reader Reviews | I thought this was a very neat restaurant, much different than any I had ever been to. I loved the fact that if you don't eat your meal that they fine you and ask you to never return! They told me when I visited that it reduces their waste, while not wasting food when people are starving. I completely agree. This was a great experience. I highly suggest if you are ever in Montreal, and want an experience like you've never had before, that you visit this restaurant. I was skeptical, as most of the food there I had never heard of, and was scared that I wouldn't like it and be banned forever, but it was so good, I loved every bite! No fines for me and I get to go back again next time I'm in Montreal. Thanks to my buddy Sean for taking me there.

Have you ever dreamed of being forcefed at knife point by vegan nazis with a moral superiority complex? Well, dream no more... Now you can experience the real thing. We were told that if we didn't finish our food we would be asked to leave an never return. This threat in and of itself turned the entire meal into a thoroughly unenjoyable experience, and hence a self-fulfilling prophecy: we could not finish our food, and we were rudely asked to leave immediately. Before you decide to patronize these assholes, ask yourself: Does forcing people to finish a plate of food (when they have no control over the initial amount of food on the plate) contribute positively to our world?
