ore Brazilian restaurants are popping up in and around Montreal all the time, and our favourite of the new crop - and the old crop, for that matter - is Senzala. This funky little Plateau eatery (with strong emphasis on "little") dishes out great Brazilian food at very reasonable prices in a fun retro-chic atmosphere. And true to its name, the plates are indeed Brazilian.

Part of the reason for Senzala’s domination is the fact it serves two modes of operation; The breakfast, lunch and dinner is a pleasant enough – plates of shrimp salad, tangy roasted chicken and smoky feijoada casseroles are big and flavourful. But it’s later at night, when caipirinha and samba music-injected South American festivities take over the space. - R.B.
