I couldn't agree more with Mark D...!
Before I found this discussion, I read Lesley Chesterman's 2-page, unflattering review of the place (with a rating of 2...!) For a food critic, she sounds like someone who has been eating out of her mother's kitchen for the past 30 years (where eveything has to be and taste like Mom's grub), and has no experience of restaurants -- all chefs have their own recipes. She names every restaurant around instead of concentrating on the restaurant she's reviewing. She does nothing but 'kvetch' and yet seems to have enjoyed her meal (2nd page). For my part, I believe that this quaint bistro, yes bistro (which I would not qualify as 'posh') is a much-awaited change on Monkland Avenue, and wish this 'restauranteure' every success in her enterprise!

This restaurant was what Monkland was waiting for... for the last 10 years ! The new owner (Dominique) took this place and turned it around ! Now they can claim that they ARE the "BISTRO" on the Avenue ! Good food, wine & terrasse in the middle of Monkalnd Village

This restaurant is a hidden gem that rivals many of the cities french establishments. Excellent food and service. My partner ate delicious halibut with jumbo shrimp, that was cooked to perfection and was a very generous portion. I had the steak tartare with fires which was among the best I have had. All washed down with some great selections from the small but comprehensive wine list. Great deserts followed. Everything fairly priced, i would recommend a visit highly.

Everything is delicious and the sea bass is spectacular!
Dominique and Dominic make a fantastic duo covering the room and kitchen to a "T".
Very chic, cozy atmosphere. Brilliant food, worth the detour and trip across town.

During our week-end gateway in Montreal, my husband and I enjoyed eating at this nice located restaurant. The new chef, Dominik Guindon, offers “une table d’hote” and also a good variety of meals. Our food was excellent and very tasty. The food presentation was beyond my expectation. As you come in the restaurant, we were welcome by the owner; really charming. We also enjoyed the restaurant décor, it creates a cozy feeling.
