Laurier Ave’s Mikado has always had a little cult, and the cult has followed Mikado to its new location on Monkland Avenue, as they blaze their award-strewn trail through all the best sushi bars in town. When they opened this little spot in the area, the little cult breathed a collective sigh of relief, so exhausted were they from having to keep track of Mikado’s comings and goings.

Why the cult status? Scrupulously fresh fish; extravagant appetizers and fantastic sushi; and the joint contains a pure jumping sushi bar atmosphere. Foremost among the attractions of the roomy digs include the reliable sushi bar, the vegetarian options and a casual but elegant dining room. –R.L.
