In titular honour, I am going to write this quickly. Montreal's favourite bistro (yes, I spoke for you, and I would do it again), L'Express specializes in consistently tantalizing French fare at reasonable prices. In a spy-friendly almost-clandestine space, L'Express lures locals and word-of-mouth charge diners of the fine smelling set. Popular at both lunch and dinner, the well-folded-napkin spot has a perpetual, though not overwhelming (perfectly whelming), bustle and din. Though the local and the express are typically at odds, L'Express brings the two together in gastro harmony (sorry about that, I was in a hurry). - S.T.

Best bistro of it's kind in North America. If you don't like this establishment, I think you need to give your head a shake.

L'Express is a main reason for me to visit Montreal, time and time again, 'pot au feu' after 'pot au feu'! In a nutshell, L'Express is Montreal, and Montreal is L'Express.

Wine list features extremely affordable French wines - trying find a bottle of lovely Bourgogne Passe-Tout-Grains for $60 in a restaurant in Toronto, NYC, and so on...

Service is always charming, professional, and I've alwasy been made to feel welcomed on each visit.

L'Express is FANTASTIC. They are open nice and late and it's busy until they close. The service is better than any I have ever received in Toronto and I have never had a bad meal. Just make sure you don't fill up on pickles and bread!! Also, be sure to order a housemade truffle or two after dinner - they are divine.
