F rom the group that brought you the suitably swanky mélange of restaurants including Med Grill, Primadonna, Bice, Cavalli , and Otto comes Kabana, a new Montreal supperclub that offers a comfortable dousing of trend.
Aside from inconceivable amounts of good-looking people, dangerous looking cocktails, and the requisite Montreal service snoot, Kabana features a remarkable space that places you halfway between Hawaii in the 70's and New York next year. Call it over the top if you will, but this Miguel Cancio-designed ( Buddha Bar, Man Ray) space is a refreshing departure from the now almost cliché look created by barnyard woods and modern accents.
Eschewing quiet altogether, the 2-floor supperclub features both an upstairs lounge space and a mezzanine, rife with floor-to-ceiling totem poles, geometric leather fringes hanging from the ceiling, antler-aggregate chandeliers, tweed banquettes, and open-gas fireplaces embedded in the walls.
As for the menu, admittedly it would be hard to come up with a card that could suitably compliment the look of Kabana's interior. That being said, with feature items like tuna with roasted Jerusalem artichokes, nappa cabbage, grilled broccoli, and green olive salsa or miso-marinated chili seabass with a puree of Chinese broccoli, cauliflower and ginger, the list does tend toward the exotic.
Kabana is still in its soft opening phases but in the coming months, the restaurant plans to come up with a line of signature cocktails that may or may not remind you of Hawaii in the 70's. One more thing, if you take this review too literally and stop into Kabana dressed in a Hawaiian shirt, don't say I sent you. – E.H

12 Reader Reviews | Hello!!!

they lost our reservations, we were treated like garbage by the staff, and there was no room left in the coat check for our jackets. I think they are trying to appeal more to the elder generation, as one power tripping loser bouncer lied to us about the age being 25, while the manager had just checked our ID's to make sure we were overage. Worst service i have ever experienced. And we are not the first ppl to have this happen to us. have fun dancing with all the old people, try to to trip on their walkers!

Good place to impress someone or have a quiet chat and spend time with someone special. Drinks were good. The prices are on higher side but the servers were smiling and attentive.

Vraiment un pure délice , autant le côté culinaire que l'ambiance , le professionnaliste du personel , sans oublier la beauté des lieu et son extraordinaire propreté. Le Kabana est la nouvelle référence en matière de bar resto lounge . Longue vie !!! Vraiment un 5 étoiles félicitation .

Gorgeous place that is definately a new must in the area.
The space is as good looking as the staff, which is a feat in itself! The food was also excellent, and relatively low priced.
Strongly recommended
