8 Reader Reviews | Having travelled a good deal, I have eaten in many restaurants. Perhaps for this reason I generally prefer "home cooking" with good fresh ingredients, prepared with some attention to detail.
With this in mind, I say without hesitation that Ghandi is by far my very favorite restaurant on the planet. I have found the service to be exceptional (but not imposing), the tables to be comfortable, the food to be wonderful and sometimes even sublime. I enjoy eating there, and feel great the next day too... the dishes are well-prepared but not overdone with too many oils and creams. Just right, in every way.
Ghandi is a great place for the family with adolescents, a business lunch or a romantic evening. The restaurant is very close to Montreal's English-language live theatre company, the Centaur, and I make a point to visit at least six or seven times a year. Love it!

I've eaten Indian food all over the world, including India, and this is the BEST ever.
DONT MISS IT.
Best bets: Bhindi Bhaji (crisp/not slimy)
Vindaloo
Chana something or other (app'y)

We discovered Ghandi restaurant by chance about 3 years ago. Ever since there we travel to Montreal at least twice a year with the main intention being to dine at Ghandi. The food is amazing and the service is impeccable. The ambiance is second to none. Bravo Ghandi!!!!!

Where not to go with your fancy cell phone!!!!!
I had a Dinner with a freind on the 06/28/07 in this place GHANDI located in the Old Montreal area.....My cell phone was last time i checked right on the table i even use it few time to answer my calls....busy talking and eating i didn't realise that my cell phone was gone......when the bus boy or the server picked up the food after we've done eating.....we have noticed that this restaurant had so many young kids working and they were all attracted to that phone.....anyway we also learned that that restaurant is part owned by Bonapart Hotel. what a shame to end up with a reputation like this. when we spoke to the manager he semed not interested in our complaint.

Wonderful food and extremely polite and helpful waiters madse a perfect evening for us. We went on a crowded New Year's Eve and seating was quickly arranged. Two poppadums with three delicous if slightly predicatble items accompanied it. Shrimp, ich lamb and subtle fish dishes were our main course, along with perfect Na'an and rice. Sag panir was a highlight. A touch of mago sorbet was a subtle and delightful dessert. Plenty of fresh food. Outstanding service.
