One half of the room utilizes a loft-style (i.e. exposed brick) aesthetic and a number of separate tables, while the other has a darker palette and a large, one-piece table. The areas are tied nicely together by wooden accents, running lights, and dashes of colour.
The premise is largely based on Iron Chef and the theme heightens the excitement. While gimmicky can prove a deadly descriptor for high end restaurants, Duel is buoyed by its owners: two ascending chefs with gifts for art-plate innovation. While the aforementioned menus change regularly, you can expect constant contemporary fusion. -E.J. and S.T.

8 Reader Reviews | So maybe I am a jaded diner, or this was just a poor start to a fine dinning weekend, but I was very disappointed in Duel. Over the course of 4 days I went to four Montreal restaurants - with TRU being our Thursday night destination. It was purely average - with all the buzz, I had been expecting much more quality, and better service.

I've been back a few times now and it has become one of my Montreal area faves. My experience has ranged from five stars to four stars, my original four star rating still seems reasonable.

I liked the atmosphere but I loved the food. Got the special and generously shared it with 4 friends. Hated to share something so divine but sometimes it has to be done.

At first the place felt a bit too small/claustrophobic and dark, but the food was great as expected. The fish dishes were spot on, and the appetizers were delicious.

My friend and I wanted to play catch-up so I decided to take her to Duel because of all the rave reviews. We were not disappointed. Unfortunately, before we could even enter the restaurant, we couldn't seem to park any where near the area. But all was appeased when we were seated, ordered and took our first...
