Nothing is set in stone with the dinner menu, but dishes are already making a name for themselves, such as the BBQ octopus appetizer ($14.00) that is so undeniably tender, you’d think the Portuguese partner (Cruz) was in the kitchen. The risotto ($15.00) is another great starter option. The mains include such items as the braised beef cheek and scallop or the grilled leg of Kamouraska lamb served with pumpkin caponata, turriga, parsley and almond salsa.

Complementing DNA’s so-called dining room is a lounge on the left when you walk in. You won’t miss the orange sofas and walls or the massive, one-of-a-kind Swarovski chandelier that changes colours randomly. The stools’ leather seats at the bar are actually basketball leather and the metal ball chain beaded curtains are a nice touch.

If you’re going on a date, try for the lovely table in the dining room that looks as though its right of the set of Jacques Tati’s '67 film Playtime, right down to the signature chairs and artwork. Or you might want to try the front-porch style rocking chair table for two looking out the front window directly at Habitat.

The two partners are actually quite clever with the details. Cruz offers foldable, ultra-modern reading glasses for the menus, while the light fixtures from the designer Braën hang from guitar strings and are adjustable by guitar tuning keys. The long table along the side window and bar has quick lighting as you plug in the modern bulb into any of the aligned jacks hanging from the high ceiling. Casually clever, detailing in everything from the menu to the design and service is well accomplished. Even the restrooms are exciting. Trust me.

I truly loved this restaurant! The food was incredible, the service outstanding and the atmosphere was chic but not over the top. I highly recommend it!

amazing decor..........the food presentation was exciting but the food itself was not .........$150.00 for 2 people is very pricey considering the alcohol consumed was 1 glass of wine and 1 mixed drink.......

Disregard any of the early snotty reviews about DNA - it's the real deal. Bistro food done superbly (the steak frites would make any Parisian happy), a serious upgrade from the previous spot in ambiance / decor too. Well balanced menu, we sampled appetizers, mains and dessert, all outstanding in preparation and presentation.

Have been a few times and always delicious. Loved the Lamb Tartar and if the Veal or Pork Chop is on the menu grab it, not only delicious but huge. For Dessert don't forget to try the Pine Nut Tart. Love the atmosphere, very laid back chic. Let Alex pick your wine, he is great and picks reasonably priced wines, so no sticker shock.

Loved DNA! The food was amazing. I never thought I would actually enjoy sweetbreads but the portion was perfect and the flavours were unlike anything I ever tasted before. The menu was small but there was something for everyone. It was a nice change from the long menu's with too many options to choose from that we are used to.
The staff was really friendly and professional, letting you enjoy your meal without being smothered. The decor is very original and unlike anything you are used to. There doesnt seem to be a bad seat in the house either! Can't wait to try the lounge for a 5 à 7 on game night!

DNA has a formula that is difficult to match. The Old Montreal setting has a surprisingly good thing going on. Still new, but the kinks are mostly ironed out. Worth a visit, while its still new.

The ambience is fantastic. The food was great tasting and interestingly prepared.
    The drinks were well mixed.
However, the waiting staff was justifiably a little inefficient considering the restaurant has only recently opened for business.
All in all I am happy to say I shall return often.
