Clerks II
Jul. 24, 2006 - Brad Jamieson
Meanwhile, Randal is feeling the bottom fall out of his meager existence when he realizes that his only friend is about to disappear forever. He can't wrap his head around the fact that his friend would leave him… and New Jersey. Dante’s final day at Mooby’s turns out to be a packed adventure – guided along with the presence of Mooby’s manager Becky (Dawson). Dawson is smart and irresistible– watch out for the long scene of Dawson bopping along to the Jackson 5's ABC.
The acting is predictably mediocre, but one new addition to the team is fellow burger flipper Elias (Trevor Fehrman), a 19-year-old Christian kid who's obsessed with "Transformers" and "Lord of the Rings." And even Ben Affleck and Jason Lee stop by for very brief cameos.
Clerks II contains lots of pop references - The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Transformers, as well as racial slurs and cruel-but-funny jokes, most of which deserve their place in indie-movie history. But when the bestiality and fart jokes get tired, where does Smith go from here? Very likely, there will be no Clerks III. - B.J.
