ngelo Rindone latest restaurant—a 40-seat trattoria called Caffè della Posta—first opened its doors in November 2006. Rindone spends most of his time working as Italian food and wine importer, so it wasn’t surprising that his restaurant would serve Italian or that he wouldn’t give it the attention necessary to be successful. Fortunately, this lapse in judgment only lasted briefly. Soon after a lackluster opening, Rindone turned the Caffè della Posta over to his mother and wife, who assumed the positions of head chef and sous chef respectively. Since then, the restaurant has blossomed into a first class Italian eatery. Portions are small, encouraging patrons to order Italian-style and eat their way through a variety of courses. The diverse menu offers plenty of choices, all of which are prepared with the attention and care of a home-cooked Italian meal (that’s where RIndone’s mother comes into play). Its certainly not a restaurant that tries to reinvent the wheel, but with Rindone’s connections the ingredients and wine selection are first class and with the most important women in his life in charge of the kitchen, it feels like the finest Italian home kitchen in town opened up to the public. – P.B.
