Think of Café Ferreira as Montreal’s culinary pipeline to Portugal. Short of flying over to that country for a meal, there really is no better way to sample Portuguese cuisine in the city. The warm and relaxed dining area is styled in white chic, an aesthetic choice that promises a cool and enjoyable meal. When the food arrives at the table you can expect the freshest fish and meats of the city (you’ll swear that they’ll move if you bite into them), either pan-fried or grilled to perfection, combined with only the finest Mediterranean ingredients. Delicacies like Fierreira Café’s lamp chops, served in an olive and dried tomato crust are paired off with a bottle from the cellar’s impressive selection of Portuguese wines and ports (in this particular case expect a 1991 Barca Velha). Fine food and wine are guaranteed at Café Ferreira. It’s the perfect spot to impress that refined and proper date you’ve been struggling with. It’s guaranteed to go over better than Chuck E. Cheese did last week. That was just a bad idea, even if it was her birthday. –P.B.
