oving from Queen Mary Boulevard in Cote-des-Neiges to Prince Arthur Street has proven to be Café Campus’ best move. Once inside the Prince-Arthur bar, you’ll be amazed by the size of the club. Cafe Campus is huge; three floors of clubbers come to see its live shows - retro-rock bands mostly - or traditional theme nights, featuring the (hopefully) best of alt rock.
Retro Tuesdays, for example, reel in a diverse young crowd of Montrealers, while Francophone Sundays brings a dramatically different selection. Another night to watch is the blues series on Wednesday nights. This night sees artists like Paul Delay and Little Head and The Imperial.
Onstage, bands play covers of songs you may never heard, to the people who fill the space talking amongst themselves and occasionally swaying to the music. The crowd is a bizarre mixture of young and older, trendy and what-the-fuck. Your standard barely legal frat guys and trendy, blow-dried young girls. R.L.
