Get ready for pub food like you've never tasted before. You can still order pub classics like the scotch egg, the only difference is that it will be made with fresh ingredients and include a side of chutney. Bangers and mash will come with a taste of garlic in the potatoes. Fish and chips taste fresher than you'd ever imagine in from a bar. And desserts? Sticky toffee pudding surrounded with fresh berries will make your toes curl. In short, it's the pub you've always dreamed of.

So when you're tired of all that "French stuff" in Montreal and need a little excursion, the Burgundy Lion could be worth the trop. The environment has been painstakingly crafted to give customers the traditional English pub experience, but with food that tastes far better than anything you've tried in the past. It's simply a must try for any pub lover.

A pint and chips is guaranteed to cure what ails you. And don't worry, this place offers none of the awkward services associated with The Burgundy Loaf (Mr. Show fans know what I'm talking about).-P.B.

If the novelty is that it's not on Crescent or Peel that simply isn't enough. And an "English Pub" should be encouraging it's traditional English pub beers not pricing them out. 8$ for a Guinness (and it's not even English!)?

Going to Little Burgundy makes sense if you're shopping at Atwater Market or eating at Joe Beef or going antiquing (all well known pastimes of the area). And, granted, Burgundy Lion is a great scaled-down-upscale local for those who've gentrified the surrounding neighbourhoods (St-Henri, Point St-Charles, Verdun). But as far as its originality it's hardly worth the cost of the metro. Any of the neighbourhoods north of Little Burgundy already have a similar entity.

It's not that we had a bad time (we couldn't possibly, our friends could make a carnival of a MacDonald's parking lot!) but two people, 4 beers each and tip came out to 76$ and it simply didn't warrant the trip... or the cab ride home.

***We would, however, also like to say that PEPA is amazing and effortlessly earns every dollar of her tip money.

I popped into The Burgundy Lion for the mixed nuts eveing about 2 weeks ago. It was quiet, but not dead quiet, relaxed, calm quiet. There was a dabble of cumstomers decorating the rich furniture in the front, and a flock of them sitting "outside" in the inside oustide patio. The decor was perfect for the name and atmosphere the pub is going for. Rich dark woods, simple clean designs, great vibe. The music was great, the bartender very friendly, and the drinks were not watered down!! I have yet to taste the food, but willdefinitely go back, because the place was very welcoming :) Def massive thumbs ups!

We were a group of 8 ladies who went to eat before going to the theatre - what fun! From Jean Francois who took the reservation and answered my questions to Peppa (not sure of the spelling) our lovely and efficient waitress to our charming waiter who brought our food and who answered the "parrot like squawk" to tell him the order was ready to the yummy food...refreshing beverages...delicious desserts, everything was wonderful. We tried the steak, fish and chips, hamburger, chicken, salads, shepherd's pie, etc. all yummy. Where we were seated made it seem like we had our own private dining room overlooking the patio. As someone in our group said, the food was good but the service was excellent. It was our first time but it won't be our last. Thanks to all of you!

A first visit - for lunch. Courteous service, precise information and beautiful presentation were surpassed only by the quality of the food.
Granted, my friend and I each had a cold dish, so I can't comment on the hot ones (yet!).
But based on the experience we both simply cannot wait to go back.

I am sad to report the food was TERRIBLE. The yorkshire puddings were a joke, anyone who has ever had a real yorksire would be appalled to be served this. Roast beef was fatty and overdone.
Fish and chips were mediocre. Food was also served cold.
Several items on the food menu were unavailable, as were a couple of the beers.
    I won't be returning.
