The hipper-than-thou Boris Bistro's best accoutrement is its phenomenal outdoor terrace. Boasting Old Montreal's most romantic patio, BB (yep) is unassumingly tucked into a semi-commercial/residential district, opposite the new Cité Multimédia.
For a special (i.e. starting lineup shirt, fresh underwear) date, there is no better place to reserve a table. The menu, created by chefs Jean-Marc Lebeau and Head Chef Jason Duffy, compliments the hipmosphere and its raw design. Although not much work has gone into Boris's interior - it's minimalist, with bare concrete floors and beams, and exposed vents (think, communist chic) - the friendly staff and exuberant patrons manage to transform the restaurant into a lighthearted space. And, after dinner, it's just a step or two to all things Vieux-Montréal, so pop a mint and wear chapstick. – R.B.

5 Reader Reviews | Terrible, terrible, terrible service. I have never been treated so shabbily by any resto experience in Mtl in my life. The service was just jaw-droppingly bad. We reserved ahead of time for a table on the patio and were assured that we would have a table rain or shine. Rain, no table under the awning. Instead we were put inside and forced to swelter for the evening until the finally opened the windows. The wine ordered was not the correct vintage. If the menu says 2006 you shold get a 2006, not a 2007. No apology from the staff or management. When ordering wine by the glass be sure to ask them to pour at the table because the CdR I ordered tasted suspiciously like a cheap Bordeaux. The waitress was competent but unfriendly, indeed the entire staff seemed to be in a foul mood.
The food was good. Not excellent by any stretch, just good. But considering the experience it was ridiculously expensive.
Go for drinks on the patio on sunny days, stay away for anything else. And tell them Jacques didn't send you.

This restaurant is a joke. The chef should go back to school, it is just a tourist trap !
