hose who remember the popular Bishop St. bar called Déjà Vu in its heyday, and later the zany Bowser and Blue Pub at the same location, (owned by the famous local duo who got their start here) will certainly experience déjà vu when entering the latest incarnation to give it a go at this address.
The recently opened Bishop Street Pub resides on the second floor of the old heritage building and has added an additional bar nook on the third floor which is available for hosting special events with celebrity bartenders. Warm wood and brass, long bar, and cozy little couch seating nooks play host to live entertainment, (no cover) think Bare Naked Ladies type bands. It seems the intention here is to recreate the welcoming, folksy, and friendly feel of a real downtown watering hole rather than a hip, cool, and trendy nightspot.
Should prove to be popular with journalists and artsy/creative types as well as off-duty bar staff as a place to unwind and catch up on the bar strip gossip without having to shout over ear-splitting volume. Light pub fare and will be available soon. - S.C. |
