11 Reader Reviews | I have been going to Bis Restaurant for many years and I have never been dissapointed. I often bring my clients there and the service is always excellent. The food is wonderful too... I know Aldo personally and he has always given me special attention... I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Four of us dined last evening at BIS. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. The appetizers were excellent, as was the pasta. I ordered one of the specials, blue marlin, which unfortuantely was not very well prepared. Though the presentation was quite nice, the fish was over-cooked so that it was extremely dry and rather tasteless. My guess is that the chef left the fish too long on the grill. I mentioned to the waiter that the fish was over cooked and he said he would let the chef know. In retrospect I should have sent it back to the kitchen because it made the meal not enjoyable. BIS has the potential to be an excellent Italian restaurant. I would highly recommend any of the pasta dishes, but if you go there, avoid grilled fish - the blue marlin was a real disappointment.

The food was not worth the time. I don't mind paying more because when I go out for dinner it is to enjoy the evening and price is not a concern......if it is enjoyable it is worth it.
Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere!

I have been going to Bis for the past number of years.
I also frequent a number of other Italian restaurants downtown as well as little italy. Bis is one of the best if not the best.
At Bis, I have always found the service and food to be of the highest Quality, no matter if it is a quieter night, I usually go there on a Sunday night,or a packed house as it was on a recent Saturday night visit. I do not know Aldo the owner personally but he has always been very attentive and congenial on my interactions with him,the waiters
are also very attentive and professional. In the end it is all about the food,from the daily specials, to the pasta, lamb and veal osso bucco, fish, over the years I have tried it all, top quality and delicious all the way. In my opinion they merit a 4 star rating.

The pasta recommended was over cooked otherwise good but an establishment like this should serve pasta al dente. Delicious tuna on rocket salad. Wine list very good.

Aldo, the "owner" writes a "defense" of his restaurant. This amazing defense:
-Doesn't apologize for a rude, unprofessional waiter who demanded (WTF!) a tip from unhappy customers and then had a tantrum when he didn't get it (double WTF!)
-Doesn't address the food poisoning issue whatsoever
-Personally attacks the reviewer with some childish insults

I'm the owner of BIS ristorante. I'm disapointed that you would post such a criticism like the one Pascal made on our restaurant some time in November.
I have been in the restaurant business for 35 years and I could see a born complainer coming from a mile away. She called to complain about the price of our dishes. When I told her that, if the price was a issue she should of asked the waiter. Instaed opted to leave a little tip and tried to get a freebee from me. Pascal is the type of client who should be going only to restaurants that you could bring your own wine and the dishes are less than 10 dollars.
She is probably the type of person who shops only for stale food thats on special. She obviously missed the point of our restaurant, which is only high quality food and service.

Hello,
I went to this restaurant a few weeks ago and I got the worst service in my life. First of all price to quality of food did not match. The food was not bad but for the price it was below.
Secondly, we never saw the waiter unless it was to peddle something expensive on us. We really did not enjoy the service at all. When we received the bill we did no fill that the waiter was entitled to a huge tip so we did not give one. The waiter came back to us and told us it was not enough and then started screaming at us in front of all the customers.
Thirdly, I had food poisoning that night. When I called the owner the next day because he was not there that night I thought I would at least get an apology. I was very wrong, he said that he has 150 people that come through his restaurant every night and he does not need my business.
I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone, it was a horrible experience.
