Aux has proved that there is life after nasty landlords evict niche restos in hopes of attracting condo developers. The hippie-vegan resto has maintained a loyal following since the move to the Main in both loyal patrons but also local artisans peddling their wares. True to the vegan mantra, everything in the store is animal-friendly and also eco-conscious (don’t risk you’re life by sporting that new leather handbag in the pursuit of fashion).

Local farmers, artisans and non-profit organizations can also find solace here as the café uses organic, locally grown produce when available, sells and uses a variety of artist-crafted wares (i.e. teapots) and also helps out social causes by selling and using cloth napkins created by the ladies of Petites-Mains (an organization that helps single, unemployed, immigrant women). So adopt the Vegan aesthetic and allow Aux Vivres to show you a life in harmony with animals.

I'm not vegan, but I often find myself craving the food served at Aux Vivres. The portions are quite generous and the food is very different from the usual restaurant fare. The service can be slow at times, so you need to make sure you hassle your waiters if they seem to have forgotten you, but overall I always love coming back. One sandwich you need to try is the BLT, whcih has no bacon, but instead toasted shaved coconut! It is delicious!
