he soaring stone and glass Tannenbaum sculpture, two Rodin sculptures and the view of the Grange Park make this secluded restaurant one tranquil little spot. This restaurant runs as smoothly as a thoroughbred on a dry day.
Agora is housed in the Art Gallery of Ontario, on a nondescript stretch of Dundas West, yet once inside, you could be anywhere. The California-style décor - walls of blonde wood, accented by white linen, all packaged in a soaring concrete art gallery slab - exudes a big shot vibe. You'll spot architects and art-world bigwigs in the dining room.
The design is raw and clean. A floor to ceiling glass window allows you to admire the view of the sculptures on Grange Park. The classic California cuisine and the wraparound vistas make this the sweetest museum restaurant in town.
Superior duck confit served with blood orange slices over one hearty Asian pancake, Teriyaki-glazed tuna over soba noodles, and seafood chowder are fantastic, but the real draw is the walk through the AGO. - A.J.
