Two high-end superpowers have joined forces to create the ultimate in luxury automobiles. Bugatti –the maker of super-expensive cars –has commissioned a deal with Hermès – the maker of super-expensive handbags and scarves – and the product is the new Bugatti Veyron Fbg. In case you’re wondering, “Fbg” is an acronym meaning For Billionaire Geniuses. Okay, so that may not be true (it isn’t) but the astronomical price of this beauty will keep it out of the hands of most lower-end millionaires.

This model revives the ancient links between the Bugatti and Hermès families, to which I wish I was born into – but I digress. Both Émile Hermès and Ettore Bugatti were friends and colleagues at the beginning of the 20th century. Now, a century later the past has been dug up (not literally) and the two European luxury good companies have united. World domination surely must be their next coup d'etat.

Blending tradition and innovation, the Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès is an example of a good thing that comes in a small package. Merging the technical performance that Bugatti is known for with the craftsmanship of a fine Hermès handbag, this car is nothing short of exemplary. The 16-cylinder, 64-valve engine delivers up an amazing 1,000 horsepower and engineering that would put a smile on (insert name of famous engineer here)’s face. On a side note, do you think anyone could ever get 1,000 horses to run together in unison, or would a mass stampede ensure?

For those who love speed, this car delivers – and fast. It’s capable of reaching a top speed of 407 km/h, meaning you could (technically) drive from New York to Los Angeles in less than 11 hours. In more standard measurements, it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds. Unimaginable! Don’t worry about danger though; the engineers have thought of that too. Example: even if you were cruising along at a raging 400 km/h, the emergency braking system would still allow you to bring the car to a complete stop in less than 10 seconds. As for your tires, it can’t be promised that they will still be in good condition

The colour of the hood melds seamlessly into the interior of the car and continues to blend as it colours the back of the car. Spoked wheels crafted from polished aluminum are the rich and classy version of spinners (sorry Big Pun) and a butterfly wheel is branded with a large and flashy H. Obviously nothing less than leather would suffice for the interior, so two-toned bull calfskin reminiscent of a Hermès bag has been used. Imagine being so rich you could buy chairs made out of the same material a five-figure purse is – now that’s successful. The dashboard is sleek and minimal, while a tiny glove compartment is perfect for a pair of gloves and not much more. Even the trunk is clad in leather!

This speedy and stylish sports car – available in ebony and taupe or brick and ebony – can be yours for approximately $2.38-million. If your jaw isn’t on the floor after reading that figure then you might be the right candidate to call up Bugatti and place an order. Finally, you have an excuse to use that Black Card!
