Suissa Computers
By Richard Trapunski
ociety is becoming increasingly dependant upon digital technology. It’s the kind of thing that would have impressed any sci-fi aficionado 50 years ago. From the iPod Nano clipped onto your belt to the cell phone in your pocket to the computer on your desk, there’s barely a minute that goes by that you’re not surrounded by technology. I’m sure it won’t be long before someone invents a waterproof iPod so that you won’t have to go unconnected, even in the shower.
But if we’re so reliant on technology why do we tolerate such ugly computer casing? Thornhill, Ontario-based Suissa Computers wonders the same thing. Their computers re-configure the standard rectangular beige box into organic designs of high-end mahogany, maple, walnut and zebrawood.
People put a lot of thought into the way they decorate their houses. Every lamp, wallpaper, or sofa defines the style of the house, and defines the way you want to represent yourself. Computers are used not only for work, but also to store pictures, videos, diaries, memories, and identity, so they too should be chosen with an eye towards design.
Suissa computers are stately affairs, well-suited to the man whose house smells of rich mahogany. While they look fantastic perched atop a majestic antique desk, they also won’t look out of place sitting right in your living room.
These computers are designer items akin to fancy Rolex watches. And they are treated as such. Suissa computers come in only five models: Junna, Yasuko, Revolution, Yuki, and Moeka. Each computer is signed and numbered, and each design has a limited run of only 100 before it’s retired. Every one takes 4 to 8 weeks to build.
The exclusivity and craftsmanship that goes into them means these babies don’t go cheap. The computers range in price from the $6,520 Yuki to the $7,390 Revolution, but you can also have your computer custom made for more. Each one includes AMD X2 or Intel Core Duo processors, Asus or EVGA motherboards, Seagate hard drives, Geoforce video cards, and Plextor or NEC DVD drives, but of course this is also fully customizable.
If you've got $6000 just kicking around, Suissa computers can be ordered at suissacomputers.com or 1-905-707-8258.
