Miami Galleries
rom the Bronx Museum, (where the exhibition earned rave reviews) comes the widely acclaimed survey of 17 years of work by Cuban-Dominican artist Quisqueya Henríquez. Twenty-two sculptures, installations, drawings, and the like are on display here. Having lived in Miami from 93-97, the show has some relevance for the city. Bringing a sense of humor and awareness for the struggles of urban life, Henriquez has always sought to bring down barriers between what is considered experimental art and pop culture. Her works are lively in an attempt to alleviate what she sees as the barriers between the Caribbean and the outside world. Can an offset print on wrapping paper do that? Go for yourself and find out. –C.S.
