Location: 880 MacArthur Causeway, Miami, FL
While Miami sees separate marquee development undertakings throughout the year, a new trend has recently emerged: the multi-faceted project. For instance, the carefully watched Fontainebleau brought together a number of interconnected endeavors. Similarly, the impending Island Gardens will combine a number of features, such as a yacht club and various accommodations. Chief amongst the latter is the forthcoming Shangri-La Miami.
Venerable high-end hotel chain, Shangri-La intends to introduce its Miami outpost sometime in 2012. Along with 147 presumably posh rooms -- such is the nature of the brand -- 105 two- to four-bedroom timeshares will also be available.
Eric Kuhne and Associates in conjunction with locals, Spillis Candela DMJM crafted the façade. Evoking a sale, the exterior has a wind-friendly lean to it. Piero Lissoni tackled the inside, aiming for a modern-yet-elegant look.
Additionally, look for poolside villas, a range of restaurants, cafes, cabanas, and an Asian-inspired main restaurant. Again, look for Shangri-La Miami in 2012. Stay tuned for further details. -S.T. |
