o-Mi is the retail love-child of business partners Sofia and Miriam (So-Mi…get it?). The name sounds like something straight out of The Sound of Music but does indicate the duo’s dedication to one another and their joint one-stop-shop. The ladies were frustrated with the miles they had to put behind them in order to complete a full-fledged shopping spree. Running around to shop after shop to pick up the items they coveted, the ladies had an epiphany in the heat of their shopping exhaustion. Why not open up one shop that has everything we need?

And that’s exactly what the ladies did. So-Mi carries clothing, accessories, jewelry and knick-knacks by over fifty international designers. Jeans by Frankie B. and James Jeans are stacked to the rafters and worth every penny for the luscious things they do to derrieres. Flowing feminine tops by Stella & Jamie and sundresses by Betsy Johnson’s protégé can also be found at So-Mi.

The store itself is warm and cozy. Gueishi, the girls’ little Yorkie, greets customers with an over-excited tail like he’s been waiting for them all day. Boyfriends being dragged along for the trip can sink down into the girls’ cushy couch for a quick nap mid-shop. Starburst and Double Bubble can be bought for pennies for a much-needed pick-me-up.

The long list of available designers at So-Mi truly does allow the spot to be a convenient stop for club wear, office clothes, beach wear and even leisure wear. Drop by So-Mi and feel the luxury of completing a shopping spree with the rest of the afternoon to spare. –J.T.
