Despite a philosophy that transcends saccharine into a toothache-inducing state of friendship and play, Miami's FriendsWithYou art collective have managed to capture the hearts of both children and adults in Florida and beyond. Comprised of artists Sam Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III, FWY owes much of its worldwide recognition and success to its longstanding relationship with Art Basel. It's only fitting, then, that it's opening its first flagship boutique just in time to join the annual artistic Mecca.

If you've ever had a chance to see one of FWY's installations or performances, you know what to expect from the Design District store – friendly characters, childlike innocence, and more color than you can handle. The entire space has been designed from scratch by the two artists and they really let their imaginations run wild. It's a wonder that anyone over the age of 12 can handle this much syrup, but I'm guessing hallucinogens have something to do with it.

Despite making their name with vivid interactive playgrounds and eye-catching art pieces, FWY has never been a stranger to commercial endeavors. T-shirts, "friend" toys, and other merchandise has long been sold through second-party retailers, but this boutique will be the first time they've developed products themselves rather than licensing them out and the first time they've created them specifically to be sold. As such, these will be the only "official" FWY t-shirts, limited edition toys, sculptures, prints, and collectibles that you can get your hands on.

The boutique officially opens with a launch party on Tuesday, December 1 in an Art Basel approved event that's sure to be a hot ticket. In addition to "sweet treats", the boutique will also be offering a free Super Malfi plush toy with the purchase of any product and the opportunity to get merchandise signed by the artists themselves.
