    Scaramouche Looking for New Digs?
By Scott Tavener in Dining Guides
When Joy Division's Ian Curtis off-ed himself, the remaining band members refused to carry on under the same moniker. Thus, New Order was born. In a roundabout, topical way, this encourages the question: if a restaurant relocates, should it keep the same name? If the name is as phonetically fantastic as Scaramouche, I hope so.

Uptown's long-running and long-successful resto with a cool-as-James-Dean name, Scaramouche, may be looking for a new address. According to recent rumblings and a Toronto Star report, the Avenue Road resto may move when its lease expires.

Uptown foodies and epicurean pilgrims from neighbouring parts need not worry quite yet: the lease does not conclude until the end of 2009. Between now and then you can get in over 320 dinners at the beloved boite.

Opened in 1981 to near-universal acclaim, the adored restaurant has garnered accolades aplenty while drawing a fervently loyal following from Torontonians and visitors alike. Many a celebratory dinner has graced its perpetually clean tablecloths. However, if the move does eventually go ahead, the stalwart joint should be able to retain its high-standard of quality. After all, it's been doing it for nearly three decades now. -S.T.
