Though not ubiquitous, Cirque de Soleil has made its presence felt throughout the entire province. Therefore, a Quebec celebration without the revered neo-circus would feel slight. Thus, on October 19th the troupe will introduce its new Quebec-inspired show at Colisée Pepsi. Similarly, the province's first lady of song, Celine Dion, takes part in the revelry via a free Plains of Abraham gig on August 22nd.

Other highlights include the ironically titled Walking Road, a nighttime show on and celebrating the St. Lawrence River; the multi-media Image Show; and the street performance extravaganza, Québec Plein la Rue.

Myriad celebratory happenings continue throughout the year, but the centerpiece of the festivities is Quebec's actual birthday: July 3rd. In concert with the popular Québec Summer Festival, the day will be welcomed with a massive, pope-free mass, while laudatory speeches and a large roster of still-to-be-announced performers will provide entertainment into the night.
