It's hard not to get nostalgic when watching Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain. The fact that 1984 was two years before I was born is irrelevant; the combination of funk-rock, teased hair, and purple motorcycles just screams 1984 (but not in the Orwellian sense). Sweat Records, Miami's hipster Mecca, screens the film tonight as part of their series called "Music Movie Mondays". It's not a bad way to spend the most boring day of the week.
