Funny stuff, as is Tom Cruise's extended (and almost unrecognizable) cameo as megalomaniac studio head Les Grossman. It takes a moment to sink in that it’s Cruise under the flab, hairpiece and sweaty misanthropy.

But Stiller, who also co-wrote the film with two other writers, can't keep the wit consistent. It can be all over the place at times, drags in certain sections, and doesn't seem to know when it's taking a joke too far.
