    Jun. 8, 2006 - Brad Jamieson

As Robert Thorn's diplomatic career advances, people start dying in the most horrific ways - accidents that have that Final Destination touch. Damien's nanny (Amy Huck) outstandingly hangs herself at Damien’s birthday party. Thus comes the arrival of a new nanny, the very polite but seriously imbalanced Mrs. Baylock (Mia Farrow, the mother of Rosemary's Baby). Watch out for her; she’s not very menacing at first, but things change rapidly.

For anyone who's seen the original movie, there’s no real surprises from here on out; Damien flies into a rage when they approach a Catholic church; Mrs. Baylock announces she's found a big black dog for the boy. Then, Robert is approached by a priest (Pete Postlethwait) and a news photographer (David Thewlis) has some gloomy discoveries of supernatural shenanigans in the photos he took at Damien's birthday party.

There are the usual shots of thunder and lightning and rain-slicked cobblestones in a grainy washed-out film stock, giving it the look of a '70s film, enhanced by the woozy horror sounds, and Jerry Goldsmith’s theme with its ominous Latin chants set the creepy tone, while Marco Beltrami’s score is just slow and flat.
