ooking for a restaurant that will remind you about what mom’s kitchen was like (provided that Mom was a gourmet chef of course)? Then the Boutique Kitchen has a chance at hitting your Favourite New Restaurant list. The place is run by the mother and son team Evelyn and Jean Sebastien who treat the lunch counter like it’s a table within their own home.
The menu is an unholy union of comfort food prepared with gourmet ingredients. Imagine an American rather than French bistro and you’re almost there. When it comes to the specifics of the menu, you’ll find a fairly delectable array of salads such as Asian, Greek, and always popular Tex-Mex (don’t worry, this place is a considerable step up from Taco Bell’s diarrhea factory) as fine starters.
The specialty sandwiches like chicken and sun-dried tomato, or Evelyn’s orgasmic melt-in-your-mouth BBQ pulled pork are so good that you’ll never be able to slap a bologna and mayonnaise between two slices of bread again. But the star menu items have to be the family dinner classics like meatloaf, churrasco steak, spaghetti. You’ll get generous portions with all the fixins for a mere $10-$12. In addition to the strong standard issue menu, the kitchen has a rotating list of specials that demand attention such as Caribbean-style paella (black rice, chorizo, shrimp, calamari, mussels, delicious) and coconut curry chicken.
While this restaurant thrives on take-out and catering orders, there is a small dining area for anyone interested in eating on the premises. The restaurant itself has a Southwestern homey décor that feels very much like you wandered into someone’s kitchen. Given the owners this is certainly appropriate…even if it’s also somewhat creepy. The place is definitely worth visiting, especially if you don’t have time to cook and need to grab a quick meal for the family on the way home. Oh, and if you go make you try Evelyne’s peach cobbler. One bite and you’ll be desperately trying to get her to adopt you.

Love this place.
Go here every 2nd day for my little fix. The people who own it put a little piece of their charming soul into every meal they serve which makes everything taste a whole lot better. The food is good, but what really makes this place worth a visit is the owner. You'll never leave Boutique without a smile on your face.
