ranslated from the Italian word for 'wheat' Spiga's uncomplicated Italian fare is inspired by the art of bread making and gathers its flavors directly from the warm, sun-baked kitchens of Italy. And just like the old 'trattoria,' Spiga's menu is created daily, their pasta and ravioli still prepared meticulously by hand. It's no surprise then, that a restaurant named after the key ingredient in bread should offer an impressive array all its own. Delicious slices of focaccia and whole wheat bread are delicately arranged in bread baskets which commence the meal.
The restaurant owes its romantic atmosphere to whiskey-hued lighting and dark mahogany accents which make the crisp, white table clothes appear to glow. Located in the heart of Miami's art deco district, the restaurant owes its charming art deco exterior to Peter Hawrylewicz, one of Miami's premiere architects.
A loyal staff means your food will be handled by experienced servers. Executive Chef Roberto Legrand is adept at toying with the traditional bruschetta, rumor has it he can produce some 250 varieties.
