nfortunately the Biscayne Corridor is not known for its dining scene but things may be looking up, especially with the addition, six years ago, of Soyka’s, a charming little bistro that’s a far cry from the hustle and bustle of Miami’s tourist traps.
In opening the restaurant, Mark Soyka (of New and Van Dyke fame) is feeding (literally) a growing demand for unpretentious, good-food places.
The industrial décor is fitting as the restaurant is housed within an old train station. Burgers, salads and wood-fired pizzas are some of the reasons to stop by on your lunch hour. Dinner serves up a bit of everything including hearty salads, chops, steaks, chicken, fish and pasta. A children's menu is available for both lunch and dinner.
Soyka says he wanted to create ‘a home away from home’ for his (predominantly yuppie) crowd. The house is busy on most evenings but packed on weekends when the scene really gets loud. Happy hour runs from 4-7 on weeknights.
