ith fourteen versions decorating Florida statewide, you have surely been to or heard of P.F. Chang’s, the high-end Asian food chain. If the substantial price of this haute pan-Asian restaurant has deterred you and yours from indulging in Chang’s delicious delights on the regular, deter no more. P.F. Chang’s little brother chain, Pei Wei, is opening up a new location in Weston.
The fare here is still inspired by Asian countries like Thailand, Japan and Vietnam, but the prices are much more reasonable. They range from $2.25 for wonton soup to $9 for any shrimp or scallop option. Not bad for a tasty night out. The menu is full of modern pan-Asian selections like cool lettuce wraps stuffed with minced chicken, shiitake mushrooms, water chestnuts, scallions, spicy soy sauce and iceberg lettuce ($6.50).
Pei Wei’s Spicy Chicken Salad ($7.75) is a blue-collar version of Wolfgang Puck’s famed Chinois Chicken Salad – it is chock full of wok-seared chicken, Napa cabbage, lettuce, tomato and rice sticks, and is done in a traditional lime vinaigrette. It’s enough to satisfy a plethora of tastes and should be enjoyed by many.
At Pei Wei, there are starters, soups, salads, noodle bowls, rice bowls and Pei Wei’s signature dishes. The options are plentiful, and there's even a kids menu featuring lo mein and Teriyaki chicken, for those adventurous tots of yours. The signature dishes feature aromatic sauces like Asian coconut curry and Pei Wei spicy sauce that are cooked up with whatever guests choose as filler – options include chicken, shrimp, scallops, beef, pork, vegetables and tofu.
